ASK is universal and economical test. It is specifically developed for adults with higher education. The construct area comprises facets of general intelligence particularly relevant for this target group, the facets of Analytical and creative thinking.
Analytical thinking represents a central, especially g-saturated component of general intelligence which is part of all significant intelligence structure models and is also the core of implicit intelligence theories. Analytical thinking is defined as the ability to appropriately interpret information of varying levels of complexity and from this, derive logical conclusions.
Creative thinking was chosen as a complementary construct area. Creative thinking refers to the ability to recognize connections and commonalities among facts as well as come up with ideas and find solutions for open problems. The complementariness of the constructs allows an efficient and incrementally improved diagnostic over purely convergent item format tests. Incremental validity can be expected when divergent, creative thinking is ascertained, particularly when it concerns a population, which, to a certain degree, has already been pre-selected by educational institutions for the trait convergent general intelligence.
ASK consists of two test modules and both can be administered separately or together, depending on the individual case.
